BREAKING NEWS: Buena Vista Trustees rescind removal letter. The Mountain Mail Article BREAKING NEWS: Headline news from the Chaffee County Times plus a column from the Chaffee County Time Editor Well, she wrote a column that was printed in the Oct. 30 issue of the Chaffee County Times. The column described the positions of voters on both sides of a ballot question, in this case, an annexation question to be decided by the citizens of Buena Vista, Colorado. A majority of the town council has objected to Russell's exercise of free speech in discussing this matter of public concern, and they are trying to remove her from office. Cara Russell believes in the freedoms protected by the First Amendment, perhaps most especially, our freedom of speech. However, fighting to preserve that right is not without cost, as she has had to hire a lawyer to defend her against the council's actions. She is being represented by Larry Berkowitz of Grimshaw & Harring. Cara has hired another law firm to handle a federal lawsuit filed against the town and 5 of the trustees.
